Hi Claire, thanks for your comment. Affiliate marketing is certainly an excellent way to build an income online, and is without doubt one of the most popular methods too. I do agree with your point on people taking action – many people like the concept of making money online but they are not truly willing to put in the time & effort that’s required to take it to any real level above a few extra bucks a month. It’s a shame really because the opportunities are definitely there but hey ho, each to their own 🙂

Hey Welhilm, from your comment I assume you mean you’d like to help companies promote their brands on social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter & Instagram? There’s certainly a lot of money to be made in this area, but you should also be aware that there’s a lot of competition so you would need to really have a unique selling point to make yourself stand out. An easy way to find companies to reach out too would be to simply search local companies in your area & then check to see if they already have a presence on social media – if they don’t then you could reach out and offer them your help, for a charge. Hope that helps.
Historical refreshes of content is a good thing, especially if some of your content has expired. Note, this does not mean re-doing your content; simply refreshing it to bring it current if it isn't already evergreen content. Look at ways you can update outdated content on your site to drive more traffic through visibility on search engines like Google.
If you haven’t heard of drop shipping then the concept is fairly straight forward. Rather than buying a whole load of products to sell & risking being stuck with some you simply partner with a drop shipping supplier & list their products for sale instead. Then whenever somebody orders a product you just let your supplier know & they’ll send them it – all you need to pay is the cost of that product. It’s basically owning a shop without the risk of being stuck with leftover inventory and it also allows you to start a business with much lower capital required since you don’t need to purchase any stock outright.
Guest post on other blogs, and invite other bloggers to guest post on your site. Guest posts are a great way to drive traffic between related blogs, and allow you to gain readers that might not normally make it to your site. Be sure to allow any guest posters to link back to their own site, and share any guest posts the same as you would your own posts.

What kind of advice would you give is your site is growing but seems to be attracting the wrong kind of traffic? My visitor numbers are going up but all other indicators such as bounce rate, time page, pages per visit seem to be developing in the wrong direction. Not sure if that’s to be expected or if there is something that I should be doing to counter that development?
Brian, great post as always! Question: Do you consider authority sites (industry portals) a form of “influencer marketing?” e.g. guest blogging, etc? In some niches there are not so many individuals who are influencers (outside of journalists) but there are sites that those in the industry respect. I am in the digital video space and for me one site is actually a magazine that is building a very strong digital presence. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Great content. Although I disagree with ‘the best times to post’ section. It is important to understand your audience. For example, if your brand/business is in high school, there will be low engagement until 2-5 when they are out of school. I appreciate that won’t really be of much assistance to you right now, but what I can suggest is that you check out my post on starting a blog & making money blogging because if you enjoy writing then a blog is a fantastic place to showcase your work.
You can also add the campaign name here such as facebook_offer or summer_sale or new_product_lineup or anything else for that matter. Be sure to separate the spaces with underscores. And, if you're placing ads on Google, YouTube or any other platform, and you're bidding for keywords, place the campaign terms in there, separated by plus signs such as best+running+shoes or best+mens+polo+shirts or anything else for that matter.
Hi Justin, thanks for your comment. Adsense can certainly be very lucrative – and it provides a very easy solution for webmasters to be able to make money from their websites. I’m afraid though I’m not to keen on the sound of the binary options – I mean of course it’s great to hear that you’re making money from them but believe me that’s very rare – and it’s also very unstable. At the end of the day when you strip it down binary options is basically just a gamble, there are no real trends to it it’s just pot luck. If I was you I’d personally look into building something more stable – maybe try increasing the popularity of your website to boost that Adsense income?
